Eastman Wins Best in Biz Gold Award

December 10, 2013 | 0 comments

Our organization works hard to educate building owners and facilities professionals about ways to meet green goals, strengthen building performance, and invest in sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives (including Eastman Chemical Company’s own low-e window film). But we don’t often stop to recognize the green efforts of our company as a whole.

Eastman Chemical Company, whose CPFilms Inc. subsidiary manufacturers Vista’s line of window films (including EnerLogic®), was recently named a Gold winner in the Best in Biz Awards’ “Most Socially/Environmentally Responsible Company of the Year” category. These business awards are judged by members of the press and industry analysts, including professionals from Bloomberg Businessweek, Chicago Tribune, Computerworld, Crain’s New York Business, Entrepreneur, eWeek, Fast Company, Financial Times, Fortune, Miami Herald, Network World, Orange County Register, PC Magazine, Reuters, San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, and USA Today.

At Eastman Chemical Company, we have implemented a series of employee sustainability and advocacy programs that help us integrate sustainability and green initiatives throughout our organization … not just into the products we provide to the commercial buildings industry. (Check out how much of an impact our window film is having on energy efficiency around the world.)

As a result of our efforts, we’ve experienced an energy intensity reduction of 2.5% from 2011 to 2012. We’re also on track to meet our goal of having two-thirds of our revenue come from sustainably advantaged products by 2015.

Some of our other green initiatives include:

  • ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for two consecutive years
  • 2013 Responsible Care Company of the Year
  • Active participants in World Business Council for Sustainable Development
  • Energy savings in 2012 equal to $8 million, or 340 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Identification of more than $7 million in energy-saving opportunities since 2010 through energy audits and assessments

The Best in Biz Awards program received more than 500 entries this year from the United States and Canada, so we’re especially honored to be recognized as part of this prestigious group.

What initiatives is your organization working on to improve environmental responsibility?
